Looking to book the perfect Evora tours?
Evora is a charming Portuguese town that stole my heart over Easter this year. Unlike the hustle and bustle of other cities near Lisbon, Evora offers an authentic experience which is quite refreshing.
What sets Evora apart? For starters, it’s one of Portugal’s rare walled cities—a historical gem that’s stood the test of time since the 2nd century B.C. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Evora is steeped in history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to Neanderthal times.
As I strolled through its medieval streets, I couldn’t help but feel transported to another era, surrounded by remnants of Roman civilization and picturesque views at every turn.
My Easter adventure in Evora was like discovering a hidden treasure trove. From the ancient walls that encircle the town to the charming alleyways lined with centuries-old buildings, every corner revealed a piece of Evora’s rich heritage.
And let’s not forget the panoramic vistas that left me in awe—there’s truly nothing like gazing out over the Alentejo countryside from the heights of this enchanting city.
The right tour will show you all the wonders this age old city has to offer. Read on for an experience you won’t soon forget!

To explore Évora thoroughly, one day is generally enough, but you could see more in two days. This allows you enough time to visit major historical sites such as the Roman Temple, the Chapel of Bones, and Évora Cathedral. A second day would give you the chance to see the Neolithic Megaliths as well as enjoy the local cuisine and perhaps visit a museum.
Evora’s proximity to Lisbon means that you can easily plan it as a daytrip, but if you plan to explore at a leisurely pace or want to see more of the surrounding Alentejo region, you might consider extending your stay to three days.
Why is Evora famous?
Évora is famous for its well-preserved historical center, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city boasts a rich history dating back to Roman times, evident in landmarks like the Roman Temple and the medieval walls.
